San Simón island
Campus Illa San Simón was an art workshop that took place at the same moment and place than the Sinsal music festival (an independent music festival, celebrated once a year at the San Simón island, in Galicia, Spain). The art pieces would be made by a selection of students from Fine Arts and Audiovisual Communication degrees, together with several multimedia artists as teachers and supervisors.
The Project was managed by University of Vigo professors Ignacio Barcia, Oswaldo García and Fernando Suárez, in colaboration with artists Marta Verde, Roi Fernández, Eduardo Outeiro, Alberto Valverde and María Castellanos (uh513 group) and Berio Molina.
The art pieces would be made by the students. In my case, together with Yoseba Cuña, we chose augmented reallity as a way to develop a concept that would talk about the current situation of telecomunications and its future consequences in the environmnet. We constructed two sculptures, in company with two QR codes. Scanning these codes with a movile phone or a tablet, the viewer would have access to an augmented reallity app that shows a simulation of the San Simón island flooded by the sea.
